Pharmexx Acquisition Update

Further to the announcement issued by United Drug plc ('the Group') on 13 September 2012, the Group confirms that regulatory clearance, for the acquisition of Pharmexx GmbH, has today been received from the Irish Competition Authority. The acquisition of Pharmexx GmbH will now complete on 20 November 2012.

United Drug plc announces that after 20 years with the Company, its Finance Director, Mr. Barry McGrane, is to step down from his role at the end of May 2013 and will (subject to re-election) then assume a non-executive director position until the AGM in 2014.
The Company also announces that Mr. McGrane will be replaced by Mr. Alan Ralph who will be appointed Chief Financial Officer from June 2013.

United Drug plc has reached agreement to acquire the UK and US clinical services businesses (combined "Bilcare Global Clinical Supplies" or "Bilcare GCS") from Bilcare Limited for a total consideration of $61 million. The acquisition is expected to complete on 31 August 2012 subject to the fulfilment of usual closing conditions. As part of this agreement, Bilcare Limited will retain its clinical supplies business in Asia.

United Drug plc today announced that it has reached agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Pharmexx GmbH ("Pharmexx") from Celesio AG, a leading international trading company and provider of logistics and services in the pharmaceutical sector, for €35 million. The acquisition is expected to complete by 31 August 2012 following receipt of the necessary regulatory clearances.
