This month we are joined by Anne Daniels who is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Eve Cullen, a catheter user and Pharmaceutical Science Student and Denis O'Driscoll, Superintendent Pharmacist of LloydsPharmacy to discuss catheter use and common issues associated with intermittent self catheter (ISC) use.
This webinar will aim to provide the Pharmacist with advice to support their patients in pharmacy, including providing advice on hygiene and insertion, potential complaints and difficulties with ISC and symptoms and management of UTIs.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Urology & Oncology
Anne has worked in University Hospital Waterford in the surgical services for the last 20 years. She has a vast experience in caring for patients with urological, vascular, colorectal, ENT & breast conditions. Anne progressed to become Clinical Nurse Manager of an acute busy surgical ward. With the development of Urology as a speciality in University Hospital Waterford 7 years ago, Anne was successful in joining the team as a Urology Nurse Specialist. Anne developed the Urology Nursing Service and ran numerous Nurse Led Clinics before progressing to Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Urology/Oncology.
She is passionate about her job and manages both benign and oncology urological conditions. Anne enjoys continuous learning, promoting urology and developing the nursing service to improve experiences and outcomes for both patients and nurses alike. Anne is currently a committee member of the IAUN.
Eve is a 21 year old catheter user from Dublin. She works in pharmacy and is a second year Pharmaceutical Science student in TUD.
Eve will be providing insights as a patient on how best to assist them in community pharmacy.
Superintendent Pharmacist for LloydsPharmacy
Denis has 26 years’ experience in pharmacy, including 22 years with HSE Addiction Services as Chief Pharmacist. After spending most of his career as an addiction expert, Denis moved to the role of Superintendent Pharmacist for LloydsPharmacy Ireland in 2018. Denis currently is the clinical lead for one of the largest pharmacy chains in Ireland with 88 pharmacies and is responsible for the management and delivery of quality pharmacy service to the public. His interest in Addiction continues as he is voluntary independent chair for Naloxone Advisory Group for HSE Strategy on Overdose Prevention. Denis has a PhD in Biopharmaceutics from Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, Trinity College, Dublin and a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from the same alma mater.
